Hello Team Fusion! Let me introduce myself...I am Darwin, a "fancy" Leopard Gecko. I came to live with the Sotos in August of 2018 and I am now about 4 years old. My wild cousins come from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran & India but my captive bred cousins make great indoor pets. I am most active during dawn and dusk (this is called being crepuscular) but you can see me move around my habitat throughout the day. I like to soak in the heat on the warm side of my home and then cool off in the shade. I even have a cool & moist "man-cave" to hang out in! I love to eat both mealworms and crickets....I am a hunter and a carnivore. Right before I strike my prey I get so excited that I wiggle my tail! My tail can get quite large as this is where I store my extra fat. I can grow to about 10-12 inches in length....which is what I am now. Can you figure out what my colors and spots are for?
Yes, we Leopard Geckos are known for our cuteness! However, we are also known for NOT being able to climb on walls and ceilings (we don't have suction cups but we do have cute little claws). We can wink using our eyelids (other types of geckos cannot open/close their eyelids) and I can often be seen licking my eyes! If I am treated like a king, I can live in captivity for as long as 20 years! Please come say hi to me, but do not scare me and tap on the glass. I look forward to meeting you!
